Organize your portfolio

Sections group the galleries in a portfolio under headings such as Weddings, Portraits, or Travel. You also choose the order of sections and of the galleries inside them. Visitors see the same arrangement on your portfolio homepage.

Sections are optional. A portfolio without sections is a single list of galleries in the order you set.

Add a section

  1. Open your portfolio from the dashboard
  2. Click Add section below the galleries
  3. Enter a name and, if you like, a short description
  4. Click Add section

Section names must be unique within a portfolio. The description appears under the section heading on your portfolio homepage.

To rename a section or change its description, open the ⋯ menu on the section heading and choose Edit….

Move galleries into a section

Drag a gallery onto a section heading, between the galleries of a section, or onto the section's name in the sidebar. A line shows where the gallery will land.

You can also right-click a gallery and choose Move to section. Select several galleries first to move them together. Choose No section to take a gallery out of its section.

To create a gallery directly inside a section, click the plus button on the section heading.

Galleries outside any section are listed first, above all sections.

Change the order

To reorderDo this
GalleriesDrag a gallery to a new position, within its section or into another one
SectionsDrag a section heading by its handle, or use Move up and Move down in the ⋯ menu

Changes to sections and order apply immediately. Publishing is not required.

Reordering is available when the gallery list is sorted by Your order, which is the default. Sorting by name, date, or size shows all galleries in one list without section headings and does not change your arrangement.

Collapse sections

Click a section heading to collapse or expand it. Use the button at the right of the search bar to collapse or expand all sections at once.

Click a section in the sidebar to jump to it.

Collapsed sections are remembered on the device you are using. Collapsing a section does not affect what visitors see.

Find galleries

Use the search box and filters above the gallery list:

FilterShows
All, Public, Unlisted, PrivateGalleries with that visibility
PublishedGalleries that have been published
Not published yetGalleries that have never been published
Password-protectedGalleries that require a password

While a filter is active, only sections with matching galleries are shown.

What visitors see

Your portfolio homepage lists public galleries in your order, with a heading for each section.

  • Galleries outside any section appear first. If there is exactly one, it is shown as a larger lead gallery above the sections.
  • A section appears once it contains a public, published gallery. Until then it is marked "Not on portfolio" in the dashboard.
  • Private and unlisted galleries are never listed, whichever section they are in.
  • With three or more sections, links to each section appear below the portfolio description.

A section that holds only private or unlisted galleries, such as client proofs, stays visible only to you.

Delete a section

Open the ⋯ menu on the section heading and choose Delete section.

Deleting a section does not delete its galleries. They move out of the section and stay in the portfolio.

Notes

  • Sections are one level deep and cannot be nested
  • A gallery can be in one section at a time
  • Sections organize galleries within a portfolio. To organize photos inside a gallery, use collections
