Preview and publish
Use the gallery editor to preview a gallery, choose who can view it, set access options, and publish changes.
Preview tabs
The gallery editor top bar includes:
| Tab | Description |
|---|---|
| Edit | Edit the gallery contents and settings |
| Desktop | Preview the published gallery at desktop size |
| Mobile | Preview the published gallery at mobile size |
Use the preview tabs to check the gallery before publishing.
Share panel
Click Share in the top right to open the Share panel. It contains the public link, visibility settings, password and expiry options, and the publish action.
Use Copy link to copy the public gallery link for sending to a client or collaborator. Use Open in new tab to view the public gallery as visitors will see it.
For private galleries, the public link is not viewable by visitors until the gallery is published as unlisted or public.
Visibility options
| Mode | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Private | Nobody outside the dashboard can view the gallery |
| Unlisted | Anyone with the link can view the gallery |
| Public | Anyone can view the gallery, and it is listed on the portfolio homepage |
Private is the default for new galleries.
Unlisted galleries are not listed on the portfolio homepage and are intended to stay out of search engines.
Public galleries are listed on the portfolio homepage, such as yourdomain.folio.photo.
Password protection and expiry
Private, unlisted, and public galleries can all use password protection and expiry.
In the Share panel, open the password protection and expiry options to set:
- A gallery password
- An expiry date or time
Password and expiry changes apply immediately when saved. They do not require publishing.
See Password protection and Expiry dates for details.
Publishing
After choosing the visibility and access settings, click Publish in the Share panel.
Galleries are published automatically the first time they switch from private to unlisted or public. After that first publish, later changes remain in draft until you publish again.
After publishing, use Copy link to share the public gallery link. Use Open in new tab to check the published version before sending it.
Publish again after changing anything visitors can see or use, including:
- Photos
- Photo order
- Collections
- Display options
- Download settings
- Maximum resolution
- Watermarks
Password protection and expiry are exceptions. They apply immediately when saved.
Revoking access
To stop public access, change the gallery back to private or set an expiry. You can also update or remove the password from the Share panel.
Password and expiry changes apply immediately. Other visitor-facing changes may require publishing before the public gallery reflects the change.
